“We all loved the farmhouse (in fact I think many of the girls had plans to stay forever)... We will definitely be back again as it was so beautiful!”
“Another fantastic weekend at Moorbath, we loved the new rooms – they’re off the clock!”
“We’ve had a really lovely stay – great house and games room!”
“As usual we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moorbath. The house was ever warm, comfortable and splendidly equipped and everybody made full use of its amenities. Thank you for everything.”
“Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your lovely farmhouse; it really is a lovely house and everyone had a truly great time. Thanks.”
Perfect for large group celebration
“This was a perfect venue for a big family celebration – in our case a 60th birthday bash with family and friends. The house is spacious, full of character and we found it very comfortable with its excellent central heating and log fires. It is well furnished and easy to feel comfortable in. The extra activities were great and we particularly enjoyed some early morning and late night dips in the pool, games of ping pong, pool and skittles. We also appreciated the high quality beds, bed linen and towels. Ed and Connie were helpful when we needed them (once during our stay), otherwise we were left to our own devices. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a wonderful old house to accommodate a big group of people in a lovely part of the country.”
Great family venue
“Just back from a week at Moorbath Farmhouse with our 6 children and 8 grandchildren celebrating our 70ths. What a great venue! Superb facilities (the grandchildren would happily have lived in the pool - & mid-night skittles & table-tennis kept the mums & dads happy). Lots of living space allowing for all 16 of us to be together, or to separate into 3 - 4 different groups. A beautiful dining room with magnificent table seating all 16 of us in comfort. Well equipped kitchen with 2 dishwashers, 2 fridges, freezer & enough crockery, cutlery & cooking equipment to never run out. Only downside was a lack of hanging & drawer space in some of the bedrooms - but a small price to pay for otherwise excellent & spacious rooms. Surroundings also good with lovely cliff-top walks & sandy beach at Lyme Regis a twenty-minute drive. We'd certainly go back.”

Heaven - Perfect for Large Groups of Any Age
“We were a party of 18/20 who stayed at Moorbath over a sunny weekend in November. We are school friends celebrating our 50th birthdays this year - our party also included 6 teenagers and 1 child. We all adored Moorbath - it's a real home from home - Lovely wood burners, cosy rooms and comfortable beds. The main farmhouse is really well equipped with a big farmhouse kitchen and wonderful dining room which accommodated all of us to eat. The barn has 2 newly converted bedrooms and, best of all, an indoor heated pool. There are hot power showers in the house and barn plus a snooker table, table tennis and skittle alley, also in the barn. Outside we had a BBQ breakfast in the sun on the large BBQ provided on the stone terrace - yes it was November! The only thing that could possible improve Moorbath would be to update the downstairs shower room and add an extra toilet downstairs - maybe in the utility area? But don't delay - get booking!”
Perfect for an all age holiday
“Moorbath Farmhouse was idyllic for our family celebration week (Granny's 70th). We were lucky with the weather but there was plenty to occupy the young had it been wet. We loved the 'shabby chic' reception rooms - comfy and spacious but we didn't feel on edge with the tinies running around.”
Ideal location for family, good accommodation, excellent activities on site
“Excellent rooms, beds, linen etc. Constant hot water in bathrooms. Good lounges and comprehensive kitchen with large range cooker, two dish washers, large fridge with second fridge for drinks in utility room and good freezer. Pool nice and warm with good changing area and showers, table tennis, skittles and pool table all good. Good grass area for other activities, we set up badminton and Kubb. Very quiet location apart from country road at front. Plenty of parking for 5-6 cars. Good outside seating area with BBQ, gas fired would be better though. Sky plus sports and two excellent TVs.”
Ideal!
“My husband and I were looking for a rental property that would be suitable to hold a joint 60th birthday weekend celebration with family and friends. We arrived at the farmhouse on Friday afternoon, Sainsbury's delivery arrived on time and we got organised before our guests arrived. Main house bedrooms all looked inviting - mainly twin bedded which I guess is more versatile. The annex was ideal for the overspill. Kitchen facilities superb - plenty of crockery, cutlery, etc. - the quality of both being high for a holiday home. We had brought extra kitchen equipment just in case but not needed - very well equipped. For 16 there was certainly enough fridge and freezer space and having 2 dishwashers was a godsend. Both living rooms would have fitted us all in although the weather was so good we were mainly outside. As a group we made excellent use of the extra facilities - swimming pool, pool table, table tennis and skittles and it was only a short drive to the beach at Eype. The garden was large and glorious with a bonus of having herbs for cooking and Pimms! The sound of birds was quite stunning and the overall peacefulness fabulous. We had our dog with us and although there were distractions like chickens and horses nearby these were never a problem although it was handy having a gate at the bottom of the parking area that we could close to deter him possibly wandering. If you are barbecuing for a large number you may wish to bring a second one; we did. The supplied one is large but not really large enough for 16 particularly if you're trying to keep vegetarian options separate. One negative was that the barbecue had not been emptied and cleaned and having to do this before we could use it was irritating. A sun umbrella would also have been useful for those who cannot sit in the sun. In fairness there may have been one and we just didn't find it! Overall we were delighted with our choice and without exception our group thought it a wonderful place to hold a get together. I'm delighted you had such a good time at Moorbath. Thank you for your review and feedback. We now have a new Satellite based WIFi broadband throughout the house.”
Great relaxing farmhouse for a Golden Wedding celebration family get-together
“A wonderful old spacious farmhouse set in a lovely quiet part of Dorset. The lovely indoor swimming pool was occupied every day from 7.15am by three granddaughters of 8, 6 and 5 years much to their parents dismay! The beds were most comfortable and peace and quiet all around at night apart from the odd owl or two and a cockerel in the morning. There is no Broadband WiFi as stated on one website. Take extra dishwasher tablets and tea towels and also towels for the swimming pool. Louisa Hawker provided delicious food and two lovely ladies, Kathy and Kate who looked after us beautifully.”
Moorbath now has a satellite based WIFI broadband system throughout the house and most of the garden
A perfect place for a large family gathering
“We were at Moorbath Farmhouse for Christmas, and couldn't have wanted a better place to be – welcoming us with lit fires, a decorated tree, and holly-decked pictures. Even a bunch of mistletoe. There was everything we needed: plenty of crockery and cutlery, so there was always enough , even with full loads in the two dishwashers, for our party of 18. Our ages ranged from 2 to 65, and Moorbath suited us all. The dining table was especially appreciated. 18 adults sat round it one evening, without being at all crowded, and with plenty of space down the middle of the table for setting out the feast, and the drink to go with it. The only shame was the time of year meant we couldn't eat outside and make use of the tables and cooking equipment there, and the lovely garden.”
Perfect spot for a chill-out
“We booked Moorbath Farm for a weekend away with friends. Everyone loved the setting - quiet and peaceful in lovely surroundings. The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. We enjoyed the swimming pool and skittle alley and went home feeling relaxed and ready to face the world again. I'm sure we'll be back next time we need to re-charge our batteries.”
Huge and atmospheric accommodation that was perfect for all
“We were a large part of 4 families and we all came away having had an amazing time (even though we were there for the storms). The place is huge and so atmospheric that we had endless fun playing hide and seek with the kids on the rainy days. The enclosed courtyard style garden is very large and was great for playing around with the kids when the sun did come out. The swimming pool is amazing and is definitely one of the highlights of the farmhouse outbuildings but probably best of all was the massive table and inglenook fireplace which was great with a roaring log fire each evening. Ed and Connie were very helpful and supportive where required and made the stay even more enjoyable. The area is tranquil and the Watchhouse Cafe in Westbay is one of the best cafes I have ever been to with a delicious innovative bakery attached.”
Beautiful!
“We stayed at Moorbath for my Mum's 60th birthday so our party ranged in age from 11 months to 87 years! There was definitely something for everyone. The setting is stunning and with the beautiful weather it felt like (and looked like) we were in the South of France! There is plenty of space both in terms of large bedrooms and downstairs living space that we weren't on top of each other. The kitchen was very well equip with 2 huge fridges, very large freezer, 2 dishwashers and all sorts of useful extras like weighing scales etc. Very unusual for a holiday rental! The dining room was perfect for large celebratory dinners and the open fires would be fantastic in winter. Bedrooms are bright, lovely and nicely decorated. Linen is all spotless and white with lovely comfortable beds and duvets so very inviting! The whole house was very clean and welcoming. Everything had been thought of and lots of care obviously goes in to everything from Ed and Connie. It's not flash, but very homey. The swimming pool, skittles alley, table tennis and pool table were all a brilliant bonus and we had lots of fun turning things competitive! The area is beautiful and great to explore. Bridport has a lovely market and the fresh seafood around is wonderful. It's easy to have a lovely holiday or party at Moorbath and we hope to return!”
Most Amazing House for family Christmas get together
“Moorbath farmhouse is the perfect rental accommodation- Bright and comfortable, brilliantly equipped (TVs, sky, two dishwashers, enormous fridges, masses of kitchenware etc etc), it has the most excellent facilities (swimming pool, table tennis, pool table, large garden etc ) Two large sitting rooms and wood-burners throughout including the amazing dinning room. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and wonderful sheets. It is in an idyllic location, with masses to do locally if you can get anyone to actually leave the house. We had the most wonderful christmas. Thank you Moorbath.”
Excellent family accommodation in a great setting
“The owner was very helpful with any queries that we had. Lovely house which worked really well for our party of 13 adults and five children.”
Fantastic house for a big gathering
“We stayed at Moorbath Farmhouse to celebrate a 40th birthday and had a fantastic weekend. The farmhouse is absolutely beautiful and it is really thoughtfully equipped - two dishwashers, very large quantities of crockery etc - which make it easy to cater for a large group. All of the rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, with very comfortable beds. It was great to have so many activities available on site - adults and children alike loved the pool (which the pictures online don't do justice to), table tennis, skittle alley and pool table. The kids loved seeing the horses and the men were very impressed that there was Sky Sports! The house is very close to Bridport, so you have easy access to a wide range of shops and amenities whilst being remote enough that you can have a large gathering without worrying about making too much noise. I would recommend this house to anyone without reservation.”
A wonderful place for a family holiday
“The farmhouse is well equipped with two spacious lounges, a large kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Our children really enjoyed the games facilities, especially the swimming pool. We didn't use downstairs single bedroom but noticed that there was no hanging space for clothes in this room.”
Quality pad
“Stayed there for my 40th. It was perfect for a group and caters for all ages. The house and surrounding area is very beautiful and there are loads of things to do in and around the house. Really good property.”
Family want to go again
“Stayed for a long weekend with extended family ranging in age from three to seventy three. They all loved it. Having two sitting rooms is handy as the young and the oldies can choose noise or quiet! The bedrooms are charming, although one of the new rooms did not have a wardrobe when we visited. The pool is a uniform four feet deep and very safe; the key to the entrance door is out of reach of very small children. The kitchen is a good size and was very much appreciated by our excellent caterer, The Hungry Mule, who came in on Saturday night to cook and serve a delicious celebration dinner. There appears to be a programme of continual improvement to the premises, some work in progress when we stayed. This is an old fashioned country farmhouse, the wonky doors and varying floor levels are part of its charm. We had six cars, which we were able to park off the (narrow) road. The property was very clean and very well presented, with ample kitchen utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery (but bring you own brandy glasses if you want them!). Well tended gardens. It is a perfect base for exploring the local countryside and coast.”
All round entertainment set in rural luxury!
“A group of us (adults and children) travelled to Dorset, via West Bay, arriving at tea-time for locally caught fish and chips with the gulls, then onto our adventure... Moorbath Farmhouse! A superb spacious dwelling with stone floors, inglenook fireplace, well equipped kitchen, 2 lounges and ample space for all. Entertainments to suit every age range included the swimming pool (everyone's favourite, but take some inflatables to play with if you have children), skittles, table tennis, pool, Sky tv and amazing walks in every direction amongst the lambs and rolling hillsides. The town of Bridport with a huge Morrisons was a short drive away so it's easy to stock up with provisions if you didn't wish to venture out. But if you do, bustling Bridport has an Arts Centre, which was hosting an art exhibition and, as a bonus, we even met the artists too! The Centre also boasts well-attended cinema evenings... worth it for the experience! Another evening, the nearby Taj Mahal provided a superb takeaway and whilst we waited to collect our dishes, we caught some exciting live musicians in Bar 10. Another bonus! West Bay is a superb beach/harbour area with entertainments, cafes (the newly opened Waterfront with outside dining was fabulous!) and stunning cliff top walks. So much to do; so little time! We will go back someday!”
Most Fantastic Family Holiday Ever
“17 of our family - aged 70 - 14 months took my Mum to this amazing place for a long weekend to celebrate her birthday. The accommodation was absolutely first rate, from stunning old features in the property, to the fantastic beds and linen and the amazing facilities, especially the kitchen and utility room. The kids (including the boys aged over 12) had a great time eithor swimming, playing pool or table tennis. It was a pleasure for us to cook in the fantastic kitchen with all the mod cons and we could all sit down at the amazing dining room table to eat. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit the area, which was also stunning, with extremely friendly and helpful locals.”
